You might be forgiven for thinking that we only do traditional kitchens on this side of the Bay, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. These past couple of years have seen more streamlined design than ever. We’ve also been horribly remiss in not posting our recent projects, but we’re rectifying that, we promise!
Have a look at one of our latest projects, an Eichler-style home that is all about contemporary:

Before (left) and after (on right) – note our fearless leader, Scott Westby, on the left.
These clients had already demolished their Walnut Creek kitchen when they visited us. They originally only came in for cabinets and they wanted something contemporary.
Hertco cabinets fit the bill. “So what else does Main Street Kitchens do?” the clients asked.
While we do supply cabinets for other contractors and DIY, our specialty is as a professional design/build firm. We have the designers on staff to help coordinate the overall design (which contractors usually don’t) and we provide the construction services.
So their curiosity became a mutual fun project together. Main Street Kitchens coordinated the design and install of the entire kitchen, including the cork floors, Cambria quartz counters, custom ceramic tile backsplash, painting, cabinet hardware, and removing some cinderblocks for a pass-through into the living room. We installed all the client’s plumbing fixtures and appliances.
We also changed out the dark, heavily-framed garden window to a new vinyl gliding window.

Take a closer look at the upper cabinets – did you see that the wall cabinet doors are on a slider system? (Perfect fit for an Eichler-type home.) The owners of Hertco cabinets are German-American engineers. They keep their pulse on the European market, while refining some truly high-end options at a reasonable price. (At least reasonable compared to what the high-end companies!) Plus their woods are especially beautiful.
Here's the surprise. While we have some pretty high-end kitchens in our projects, we can work with you to keep the budget within the new home values. (Think vinyl window as you saw above instead of a wood frame...or reasonable cost backsplash tiles.)
If you’d like to know the cost, you can find it on our project page here. It’s the third at the top under “Kitchens”.
