This is something we've been facing in many of our bathroom remodels. And let's face it - for years, litter boxes haven't been pretty and cats aren't always the neatest. What a shame to have a wonderful remodel and then have to put the plastic box back in place!
90 million Americans own cats. (Although, let's be perfectly straight here - no human actually owns a cat; we just think we do. The cats know better.)
Thankfully this massive trend of pet ownership has provided some options in designer litter boxes (and
yes, we're having a hard time maintaining straight faces - there's
something interesting about "designer" and
"litter" in the same sentence.)
Some of it's pretty basic - assemble-your-own like the unit below (from The Refined Feline ),
while others are contemporary award-winning design like the unit on the right here (thanks to our wonderful client Jennifer, who spotted this from Kattbank):
For those of you who need space and don't have room for more furniture, there's these - litter boxes as plant containers (from Pets Best Products) :
In fact, if you Google "decorative litter boxes", you'll find hundreds of them.
Are they perfect yet? Oh, there's still room for improvement on the exteriors (most interiors seem well thought-out), although we'll take a decorative piece vs. a plastic bin any day...
