For those of you who still keep the phone in your kitchen ~
Would you like a way to eliminate the clutter of cords and that horrible blocky adapter?
Carol found a solution -- a power source which combines the adapter receptacle and the phone jack all in one unit.
Check out the Leviton Out-of-Sight Power Jack 40215 below:
It's a receptacle outlet that just happens to have a power source and the phone jack all built into one.
Using one of these means you can eliminate the bulky adapter in the left picture and hide all the cords behind the phone. Hooray! No more visual clutter.
(Sometimes it's just the small things that make a difference, you know?)
We''d rely on a good electrician or someone who's really handy because he or she has to strip the existing adapter from the answering machine in order to wire up to the new jack.
Here's what it looks like. Isn't that nice? Clean wall. Happy client. Happy designers.
A couple of pointers:
* See how this phone protrudes above the answering machine? You'll
want to measure your phone and the antennae if it's cordless if you're
planning on installing it under your kitchen wall cabinets; otherwise,
if might not fit.
* This power jack works best with wall-mounted
phones (of course), but not all wall-mounted phones will work with the
power jack. You'll want to make sure the two are compatible before you
start.
* If it's on the wall, we'd specify the height you want it just in case your 6'3" electrician installs it at a height he thinks is comfortable. (Not that we're talking from experience or anything.*cough*)
* Best of all? It retails for under $ 30.00.
